Review:
Arkk the man. The voice that touches.
Having had the chance to talk with him you would never believe it’s the same person if you had the opportunity to see him perform live. While singing with the channels of praise his performances were always the source of joyful tears and contemplation.
His revolutionary brand of gospel music was cause for concern to many people within the clergy. His debut Roots Reggae album Easier Said, is a must have. Arkk is not just a singer, he is a vibrant, totally captivating act. Easier Said is reported to be one of the best reggae album in the world for the past 20 years. It’s not the conveyor belt type its genuine Roots Reggae well- written, well-arranged, well sung, well played. This album is sincere a credit to world music.
Arkk seems to be starting from where Bob Marley stopped. The effortless flow and diversity of this album makes it rise above any suggestion of plagiarism. It’s been a long time since Reggae has had such a voice among its ranks Urgent, Pained, Soulful, and Sweet. The only fitting word to describe the lyrical contents of this album is Classic. Tracks such as Nottinghill, Un-Nu-Fi Learn, Easier Said, Dark Red, and Apologise are just top of the league works of art.
The Album is wonderfully accessible. Each track invites the other. It’s irresistible. Working with White Light Producer Tony White and musicians of the Ray Carless calibre has given the Album an undeniable beautiful polished feeling.
